Obituary

David A. DePan (74) of Warners, NY passed away Saturday, March 3rd after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and dementia while being cared for by The Cottages at Garden Grove. He graduated from West Genesee High School in 1961. From there he went to Oswego State Teachers College. He was a member of Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity and also a lifeguard while at college. David then taught at Cicero North Syracuse High School for Driver's education and Industrial Arts. From there he became a sales representative for P&S filtrations. His passion was for teaching though and returned to it at Liverpool High School. He led a very full life including being a First Aider and driver for Baldwinsville Ambulance corp. He was a member of the Amboy Presbyterian Church. David became a member of the Masonic Lodge #501 which led to his membership with the Shriners. He was a member of the Warners Fire Dept for 38 years becoming Lieutenant and then Captain of the Fire Police. He then became Fire Commissioner for 5 years. He enjoyed camping, traveling and woodworking in his spare time.

David was predeceased by his father and mother; David H and Ivy DePan and sister Nancy Resseguie (John). He leaves behind his wife of 33 years Evelyn (Keller) DePan; daughter Maura Dayton (Edward) of Central Square; son Alan DePan (Melissa) of Liverpool; Step daughter Karen Bench of Maine, Thomas Bench of Seneca Falls; Six Grandchildren; Courtney Snyder; Dylan Dayton; Haley DePan; Brady DePan; Ian DePan; Tara Bench; also many nieces nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday March 7th from 5-7 pm at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 East Genesee St. Syracuse. A Masonic service will be held at the conclusion of the the calling hour at 7 pm. A Funeral Service Celebrating David's Life will be held at 10 am on Thursday at the funeral home.
