Obituary

Luke Thomas Byrne passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021, unexpectedly at home in Daytona Beach after suffering a heart attack. Luke was the 11th child of Jack and Ann Byrne of Hancock Drive.

Born March 12, 1963, Luke attended St. Ann's Elementary school and loved playing basketball for the Purple Eagles. He attended Bishop Ludden and Corcoran High School. He attended a Joe Namath Football camp and met his idol, Joe Namath. Forever a loyal Jets and Rolling Stones fan, Luke attended numerous Daytona 500s.

In 1982 he received an Honorary Discharge from the US AIR FORCE and eventually relocated to Daytona Beach. Luke was a jack of all trades and spent most of his adult life working with exterior glass in high rises. Luke married Zoe Carr, and they joked that their wedding reception was a Rolling Stones concert.

Luke knew no strangers, and he had a way of making people laugh. His contagious laughter was just one of his traits that will long be remembered. He loved the simple things in life: helping others when they were in need, using his resources, and making the most of every moment. He always remained positive, regardless of his situation, and he often reminded folks to "row, row, row your boat." Luke's simple message was to be yourself and not worry what others think. One thing is for certain: Luke was always true to himself and he was brutally honest.

Luke was predeceased by his parents Ann and John (Jack) Byrne, brothers Kevin, John, George and Brian. He is survived by brothers: Noel (Collette) of Phoenix, AZ, Philip (Kathy) of Skaneateles; four sisters: Marianne (Larry) Flynn of Oneida, Christine deFoster of Jensen, Beach, FL, Gretchen (Dean) Burns of Syracuse, Martha (Andrew) Dollekamp of Syracuse; as well as a large extended family and a host of loyal friends.

Family and Friends will remember Luke Byrne at Noon mass at Most Holy Rosary Church in Syracuse on Sunday, October 17, 2021.
